A.I. generated the wrong bird!
In 2023, a friend and I joined the Young Creative Circle Awards (YCCA) to create a design for the Wild Nature Foundation, promoting "Wild-aktier" (Wild-shares) to raise awareness about endangered species.
Given only 24 hours, we quickly realized the scarcity of images and footage for some rare species. When we tried using AI-generated images, the results were distorted and failed to capture the unique features of these animals. This highlighted a critical issue: as species become extinct, AI cannot accurately represent them, reducing their existence to flawed digital memories. Instead of showing the real animals, we aimed to pique the audience's interest and encourage them to discover these creatures on their own.
To convey this, we showcased AI-generated images in digitalized frames, warning that these animals might soon only exist as digital remnants. Our campaign included a poster, three Instagram posts, and a flip book inspired by Animorphs, showing the transition from biological to digital.
