Snaps - Watermelon and lime
At my previous workplace, Envision, I took part in a snaps competition. Each participant prepared their own snaps in advance for daily tastings and presentations throughout December.
For my entry, I created a watermelon syrup by layering sliced watermelon and sugar in an airtight mason jar for three weeks. The resulting syrup, which also pairs well with blueberry pancakes, was mixed with snaps and the peel of two limes in a 1:10 ratio. After letting it sit for four weeks, I adjusted the taste with more lime peel, syrup, or lime juice for a fresher flavor.
The result was a unique and refreshing snaps, perfect for the competition
